Our 2026 Novel Competition is now open

Our judges this year are award-winning novelist Sarah Moss, literary agent at Greene & Heaton Literary Agency Imogen Morrell, and lecturer and critic Cat Mitchell.

The winner will receive £5,000 plus manuscript feedback from The Literary Consultancy, and pitch training and personal introductions to editors and agents in partnership with New Writing North. Three finalists will also receive manuscript feedback from The Literary Consultancy, and pitch training and personal introductions to editors and agents.

Visit our Meet the Winners page, if you’d like to read an excerpt from Emily’s novel, along with some comments from the judge and an interview on how she did it.
