Our 2024 competition is now open!

Elle McNicoll (best-selling children’s novelist), Caroline Carpenter (Children’s Editor, Bookseller) and Clare Wallace (literary agent at Darley Anderson Children’s) will be deciding the winner of our 2024 Children’s & YA Novel Competition.

Submit the opening 3,000 words of your novel for children or young adult readers. Your novel must be at least 20,000 words, and our competition is open to women who are not yet published as novelist - self-published authors are eligible providing you've had fewer than 500 sales.

Our winners and finalists go on to be published at the highest level - including Imogen Hermes Gower with The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock, Polly Clark with Larchfield, Emily Howes with The Painters Daughters, Frances Perkins with The Seven Imperfect Rules of Elvira Carr, and many more, and we're excited to see what lies ahead for the Class of 2024.

Find out how our 2022 winner Alice Nutall did it here, and read an extract from her winning novel Save the Zombies!
