Upcoming Salon events

June Lunchtime Write-ins | Mondays, 12-1pm via Zoom
Bring whatever writing projects you have on the go and settle in for an hour of writing in the company of your fellow Salon members. Whether you’re able to join us for the full hour or you just want to do a few minutes of free writing, pop in and say hello. Visit the Salon to join in.

Magical Islands: making new stories from myth |8 June, 5:30-7pm via Zoom
Magical islands have stirred the imaginations of landlubbers and seafarers for centuries, prompting tales of fairy inhabitants, secret tunnels, isles hidden by magical mists or visible only once every seven years. In this workshop with Zoe Gilbert, we’ll look at some of the folklore of magical islands from around the UK coast, and explore approaches to turning such lore into fresh stories with their own meaning and magic. Visit the Event page in the Salon to register.

Late Night Write | Date TBC, 8-9pm
Settle in for an hour of writing in the company of your fellow Salon members at our upcoming Late Night Write. Visit the Salon to join in.

Writing Weird Girl Fiction | 29 June, 5:30-7pm via Zoom
In this workshop with bestselling author Lucy Rose, we'll explore what weird girl fiction is, why it's having a moment, if it will endure and how to write it. Filled with practical tips on engaging with your inner strangeness and mapping out your weird girl fiction story, as well as discussion on why this space in fiction has so much magnetism, this workshop is perfect for people who love subversive fiction and unsavoury women. Visit the Event page in the Salon to register.

Early Morning Write | Date TBC, 6-7am
For the early birds among us, we’re hosting our first-ever Early Morning Write! Kick-start your day by joining us for an hour of writing. Visit the Salon to join in.

Writing Flash Fiction with Martha Lane | 13 July, 5:30-7pm via Zoom
Flash fiction may be a relatively new literary form but it's never-ending growth in popularity proves it isn't going anywhere. These tiny tales have captured writers' imaginations globally. Flash isn't a vignette, a mere moment in time, it is a full story encapsulated in 500 words (or 350, 700, 999...). With the right setting, industrious word choices, and deft wrangling of emotional tension you can create something truly special. Join flash fiction fangirl, Martha Lane, for a generative workshop with prompts and practical techniques all designed to help make your flash fiction writing as good as it can possibly be. Suitable for writers who've never written a single word, and those who've written thousands. Visit the Event page in the Salon to register.
