Bring whatever writing projects you have on the go and settle in for an hour of writing in the company of your fellow Salon members. Whether you’re able to join us for the full hour or you just want to do a few minutes of free writing, pop in and say hello. Visit the Salon to join in.  

Ghost-whispering | A workshop with Alison Binney

How might women’s voices of the past speak to our lives today?

This workshop will invite participants to think about the voices of women from the past. What are they saying? Why are they saying it? How are they saying it? What are others saying about them? How might their voices speak to our lives today? We'll explore a range of historical sources including images, court reports, newspaper articles and rule books to listen to what these women might be whispering to us, and to use them to craft our own poems in response.

All of us carry stories about who we are as writers and as people. In 'Owning Our Story', Katrice Horsley will guide you through a series of exercises to help you untangle those narratives, to examine them with honesty and care, and to write from a place of genuine authorship.
