Sometimes simply reading about creativity and publishing is not quite enough, and you crave feedback on your writing and actual contact with those in the know. That's where our events programme comes in. Join us in the Mslexia Salon for a full programme of online events, and if you'd prefer to devote a whole week to making progress on your Memoir or Novel, check out our upcoming Women's Writing Weeks.

Upcoming Salon Events

April Lunchtime Write-ins | Mondays, 12-1pm via Zoom
If you're looking for some writerly camaraderie, join us for our Lunchtime Write-ins. Whether you’re able to join us for the full hour or you just want to do a few minutes of free writing, pop in and say hello. Visit the event page in the Salon to join in.

Plot with Your Nose | 20 April, 5:30-7pm via Zoom
How do you create a page-turning plot and keep the tension simmering if you don’t know what you’re writing yet? In this workshop, bestselling novelist Alice Slater will share the ways in which her approach to plotting has changed for each of her novels, and give you all her best advice for following your nose, breaking through writers’ block and leaning into the grain of your own brain to make your book bang. Visit the event page in the Salon to register.

Early Morning Write | 5 May, 6-7am via Zoom
For the early birds among us, we’re hosting our first-ever Early Morning Write! Kick-start your day by joining us for an hour of writing. Visit the Salon to join in.

When Physics and Fairy Tales Collide | 18 May 5:30-7pm via Zoom
Physics is filled with galaxies of inspiration for writers of fiction, poetry, non-fiction and hybrids, from delicious terms like 'charmed quark' and the 'luminiferous aether' to mysterious and magical concepts such as 'dark' energy' and 'quantum gravity'. Writers have been using fairy tales as inspiration for centuries, borrowing characters, structures and general fairytaleishness. What might result from the collision of these two universes? In this workshop with Tania Hershman, we'll experiment, creating physics fairy tales, naming our own subatomic particles, and inviting Snow White, Goldilocks and all the bears into the lab! (If anything science-y makes you nervous, don't worry, this is all about imagination - you won't be tested!) Visit the event page in the Salon to register.
