Mslexicon is a house party like no other.

Part brainstorm, part bootcamp, part celebration, it is a chance to nurture your writing craft and career with the help of leading agents, authors, tutors and mentors, all hand-picked for the depth of their knowledge and their commitment to supporting women writers.

Mslexicon 2019 is for writers of creative prose: novels and short fiction, memoir and biography, and all types of narrative non-fiction. The programme has been designed to foster creativity and provide you with the skills and confidence you need to achieve your writing goals.

We have partnered with leading mentoring, tuition and manuscript feedback organisations Faber Academy, WoMentoring, The Literary Consultancy and Gold Dust to ensure that our talks and workshops are led by experts at the very top of their profession.

It all takes place in Devonshire Hall, a Grade II listed manor house set in lawned grounds, and conveniently close to Leeds city centre with its extensive road and rail connections. The garden, cloisters, bar and other social spaces offer lots of opportunities to chat with other writers, and there are additional social events in the evening to round off the packed daytime programme.

Bring your book idea, your first page, your pitch, your career question, for individual 1-2-1 feedback from our guest agents and book doctors. Our group workshops, talks and panel discussions will cover craft issues such as character development, voice and plot, as well as career advice on publishing trends, performance skills, prioritising your creativity, and how to cope with the submissions rollercoaster. And there will be lots of opportunities between sessions for networking with professionals with a reputation for supporting women writers.

Whatever stage you have reached in your writing process, there will be something to suit you at Mslexicon.
