A surprise package from my late Great Aunt Frankie’s solicitor arrived today. Inside the slim brown envelope a handkerchief carefully wrapped in tissue paper. It is embroidered with her Initial in purple, green and white. Holding it to my face; I breath in her smell. She fought all those years ago for my right to vote. The F in suffrage colours surely represents freedom. She lived bravely, never conforming. She recognised this in me. Written on the note, be proud, you have your Pride. We shared an unspoken connection; the handkerchief a symbol of freedom. Now it is mine.
