Women’s Poetry and Pamphlet Competitions 2018

After months and months of keeping our mouths zipped, we’re delighted to announce our exciting new partnership with The Poetry Book Society to bring you two brand new women’s poetry prizes.

The Poetry Book Society is a unique poetry book club, founded by TS Eliot in 1953, which showcases the best new contemporary poetry, including powerful female poets such as Sophie Collins and Sinead Morrissey. This year the PBS also launched the #Women100campaign to celebrate the centenary of the women’s vote and highlight the wide range of poetry by women. Needless to say they’re the perfect partner for Mslexia’s renowned competitions, and we couldn’t be more excited to be teaming up with such a fantastic champion for poetry.

The Women’s Poetry Competition will be judged by the one and only Carol Ann Duffy, award-winning Scottish poet and distinguished Poet Laureate. As well as being published in Mslexia and the PBS Bulletin poetry magazine, winners land cash prizes of up to £2,000, plus the chance to be mentored by PBS Book Selector Sandeep Parmar and attend Scotland’s International Artist Residency Centre at Cove Park.

Do you have a body of work to submit? Judged by renowned editor Amy Wack, the Women’s Pamphlet Competition offers a life-changing opportunity to get a pamphlet manuscript published by Seren Press, one of the poetry industry’s leading independent publishers.

Both competitions close on 14 September 2018, and are open to all women writers from today.
