We are excited to launch the Mslexia Women's Fiction Award: Children's Novel Competition for unpublished women writers.
The competition is open to women of any nationality from any country, and welcomes the first 5,000 words of completed, unpublished novels for children or YA readers, of at least 15,000 words in length (not including the title).
As well as the top prize of £5,000, the winner and four finalists will receive manuscript feedback, and introductions to agents and editors, at a special event held in London.
Longlisted writers will be contacted in January/February 2019, at which point they will be asked to send us their full manuscript and synopsis. We DO NOT require a synopsis with your initial submission.
The winner and finalists will be announced in the June 2019 edition of Mslexia magazine, and will be contacted before publication of the issue.
Please include a cover sheet for your entry.
Each £25 entry fee allows you to submit one novel extract (first 5,000 words). If you would like to enter more than one novel, please select the correct number of entries below.
An entry form page will open automatically after payment. If this does not happen, or if you would like to send your work at a later date, please use the link in the payment confirmation email to access the entry form.
We also have a number of sponsored entries available for writers in receipt of benefits, or living below the poverty line. To apply for or donate a sponsored entry, or for any further information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 0191 204 8860.
