The National Creative Writing Graduate Fair 2017

Date: 3 November 2017

Time: 8:30am – 17:45pm

Place: Manchester University

Price: £40 (tickets available from National Creative Writing Graduate Fair website.)

Mslexia is delighted to be invited, by our friends Comma Press, to attend the 3rd National Creative Graduate Fair at Manchester University. Where Debbie will be reprising her popular Synopsis Writing talk, plus the Mslexia Team will be around to chat about submitting to the magazine.

The fair welcomes creative writers from an extremely broad range of genres and disciplines, and individually matches writers to agents or editors who are keen to hear pitches from that genre, including Commercial Fiction, Crime and Thriller, Screenwriting, Short Stories, Poetry, Literary Fiction and many more.

Attendees do not have to have a Creative Writing degree to attend the Fair, or any degree at all. All that is required is an enthusiasm for writing, and two ideas you’re willing to pitch – or, if in the early stages, discuss – with an agent or editor.

Creating opportunities for writers is one of the key goals of the Fair, bringing literary agents and editors (the majority of which are based in London) out of the capital so they can meet with them face-to-face, and gain experience and confidence in pitching.

For more information and digital content from the 2016 Fair including Kit de Waal’s keynote speech and interviews with agents and editors about their submissions do’s and don’ts, head to the NCWGF website.
